“Dictators” was Cllr Pat Bowe’s description of the NRA at Mountmellick Town Council monthly meeting.
He accused the authority of having made no effort to divert lorries around the town during recent roadworks and he told of having seen three people standing around one stop sign.
“It’s a shame the way they (NRA) were allowed to carry on. There will have to be communications between the NRA and local authority,” he said.
Cllr Marc Connolly: “The diverted traffic passed a hospital, shopping centre and two schools.”
Cllr Paddy Bracken: “It was very badly handled.”
Chairman Cllr Stephen Lynch: “I would like to agree with the rest of the Councillors.”
