Celine Knight
The sudden death took place on Thursday of Celine Knight of Seskin, Portarlington.
Celine Knight was instrumental in the setting up of a Teen-line telephone helpline for young people in Portarlington in 2009.
She was the recipient of a Community Award for her work in the Laois People of the Year Awards 2010.
The opening of the telephone line in 2009 was the culmination of nearly two years of preparation by volunteers from across Laois and the midlands, with a lot of help from Teen-line in Dublin.
Celine Knight was instrumental in getting the project off the ground.
Following a double family tragedy, the idea of a helpline in Portarlington came to Celine in 2007. Her family were the first to back her but the people of Portarlington soon came on board.
People from across Laois and the midlands also joined in. The turning point was when the Teen-line service agreed to get involved. Speaking to the Leinster Express at the time Celine said it was "a dream came true" when the Teen-line opened at Portarlington's Cul le Cheile centre in the spring of 2009.
Beloved wife of the late Garrett and dear mother of the late David, she is deeply regretted by her loving son, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all other family and friends.
Reposing at her residence on Saturday from 3pm with Rosary at 7pm. Removal on Sunday morning at 11.10 am arriving St Michael's Church, Portarlington for Requiem Mass at 12:15 pm. Funeral afterwards to St Michael's Cemetery, Portarlington.
Celine's Requiem Mass will be streamed live on
