With many post Christmas bins bulging, Laois County Council has issued advice to householders.
They are asking people to be mindful of the Bring Bank rules and they have published the opening times for Laois landfills over the holiday period.
As Bring Banks for cans and bottles will be busier than normal, visitors are being reminded to put items in their correct bring bank and not to leave rubbish behind.
“Put your items into the correct bring bank. Do not leave any items in, on or around the bring banks,” the council advised.
“If you visit and they are full, please take your recycling home and let us know on 057 86 74322, we will be working to empty the facilities more often over the Christmas period.
The council warned that improper use or leaving materials at the Bring Banks is a litter offence and will result in a litter fine of €150
