Laois County Council give details of road closures in Emo

Laois music festival Forest Fest returns for its third year this weekend, and road closures are planned around it.

Laois County Council has announced the closure of roads around Emo village, over the duration of the weekend festival.

The closures will be in place on or between Friday, July 19 and Monday, July 22, from 8am on the first day until 3pm on Monday afternoon.

The R422 road through Emo will shut from the New Inn roundabout, beside Finline Furniture on the M7 Motorway side of the village.

In the other direction from Mountmellick, the same R422 road will be closed from Kennel Cross junction, a well known staggered junction with the R419 road to Portarlington. placeholder image

Traffic will be diverted south from Kennels Cross and the New Inn roundabout, along the old Dublin Road.

The council is also closing the R3154 from where it junctions with the R419 back to the R422 in Emo, and a local road called the L31551 to the R422.placeholder image

They say there will be "Local access only along L31542 from R445".

The council says that the reason for the closures is "Facilitating the Forest Fest Festival at Emo Village, Co. Laois".

"Traffic will be restricted to local access, event buses and service vehicles only during these times. All points of road closure will be manned by a dedicated traffic management team. Diversions will be clearly signposted," Laois County Council says.
