A Laois Fine Gael councillor has requested that a bog road be resurfaced this year by Laois County Council.

Cllr Barry Walsh tabled a motion with the request to the February meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District.

He asks for the Bog Road in Ballyroan to be included in the council's annual resurfacing programme of works.

He also wants "urgent repairs" to the surface of the Bog Bridge.

Cllr Walsh had his motion tabled by his colleagues as he was absent from the meeting due to a family bereavement.

In reply, Laois County Council district engineer Wes Wilkinson said that his office will examine the L2715 Bog Road, Ballyroan for consideration for resurfacing as part of the 2025 Roads Programme.

He said that road repairs will be carried out on the section of road if required.
