Two roads closed by floods in Laois as motorists advised by fire service

While Laois is not included in a Met Éireann Status Yellow Rain weather warning today two roads have become impassible with floods, with the Laois County Fire and Rescue Crew at work to clear them.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Anthony Tynan gave an update to the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

"There are roads flooded in the Ballinakill area at Dooary, and and Ballyroan Spink area. The roads will be closed while we are dealing with them.

"Laois is not under a weather warning but motorists should watch out for our road signs, and observe the conditions and drive appropriately," CFO Tynan said.

The Ballyroan road has now been cleared and reopened, in an update given by Laois County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Barry Walsh.

"Ballyroan Spink road - Update road cleared now with isolated pockets of water and loads of debris in the road so take your time," he said.

There is a Met Éireann Status Yellow - Rain warning for neigbouring Laois counties Carlow, Tipperary and Kilkenny, as well as Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford until 5pm this Tuesday, November 11.

It warns of spells of heavy rain. Possible impacts will be localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.
