Bed and breakfast tourists are having problems trying to find their way to Clough village in Laois.

A road direction sign has been requested to help them find their way to a Bed and Breakfast business by a local councillor.

Cllr John King tabled a motion at the November meeting of Mountmellick Borris-in-Ossory Municipal District to ask the council to erect a finger post sign, near the Manor Stone junction on the Rathdowney road, close to the M8 Motorway.

“A small pub is doing a poor trade in Clough, he has to do bed and breakfast. How much are these signs?” he asked.

Area engineer Stan Cullen said that the money was not the issue.

“We have to ensure the location is correct. It will be assessed for a suitable location for the sign,” he said.
