Joanne Donnelly of Met Éireann warns of freezing conditions on RTÉ.

Heavy showers of rain sleet and snow will sweep the country overnight driven by gale force winds from the west.

The three weather warnings for wind, snow-ice, and rain remain in operation according to the latest Met Éireann forecast.

Snow fell widely and heavily in Laois and the midlands on Wednesday leading to difficult driving conditions.

Met Éireann warns of 'dangerous driving conditions' overnight Wednesday caused by sub-zero conditions.

As the winds ease on Thursday so too will the rain but the weekend looks very unsettled.
