Extended Laois Townlink service to end this week

Flanagan welcomes funding for feasibility study on traffic in Mountmellick

O'Connell Square, Mountmellick

Slieve Bloom Coaches/Townlink are ending their extended Mountmellick Townlink service this Friday.

The extended service operated at night time up to midnight and the operator says there isn’t sufficient demand for the service. A second extended service from Tullamore to Mullingar is also coming to an end on Friday.

The Townlink coaches will continue to service both towns as normal during the day.

Slieve Bloom Coaches/Townlink posted a notice on the social media pages alerting users to the changes.

“All passengers MULLINGAR & MOUNTMELLICK Townlink. By close of business THIS FRIDAY, 13th January, there will be NO extended service on either route,” they explained.

“Mountmellick Townlink will operate 06:35-19:22 finishing in Mountmellick at 19:22

Mullingar Townlink will operate from 07:10-19:10 finishing in Tullamore at 19:10.

This is due to the fact that there is no one using these night services and not feasible for us as a business to keep running at a loss,” the operator stated.
