Mountmellick road to Portarlington and M7 Motorway will shut
A busy Regional road in a Laois town leading to schools and Dublin will be closed for a week this month.
Laois County Council has announced its intention to close the R422 road on Harbour Street in Mountmellick, from Monday, March 24 to Friday, March 28.
The road closure is necessary to facilitate connection of the new Grange Hall housing estate to the public sewer connection.
It will be closed for 24 hours a day while the work is underway.

The town centre street connects Mountmellick to Emo, Portarlington and the M7 Dublin Limerick motorway.
Grange hall is a private development which has 54 new houses under construction, expected to be completed in the coming months. An application by the developer to build two further houses at the entrance was recently refused planning permission.
The council say that diversions will be clearly signposted. A map will be available on www.laois.ie
