A Laois County Councillor has called for the redesign and upgrade of two roundabouts in Mountmellick.
Mountmellick Fianna Fáil Cllr Paddy Bracken tabled this motion, highlighting that the road is in urgent need of repair.
The Cllr slammed that the roundabout located on the Connolly street and Sarsfield Street junction is 'in bits'.

“The one at Supervalu is a constructed roundabout, but you see a lot of damage there and it needs to be revamped,” Cllr Bracken explained.
“I know that the town regeneration team were looking to get that enhanced, so hopefully we can do something on that. But it's the other side at Healion's corner that's a very busy junction, that needs to be dealt with as well," he said.
“The road needs to be resurfaced this year because it's actually in bits, it's a danger.”
Fellow Fianna Fáil Cllr Seamus McDonald supported the motion.
Senior Executive Engineer with Laois County Council, Mr Rory O'Callaghan, replied that the Area Office and Road Design Department will meet with on site.

"That junction on Sarsfield and Connolly is on this year's roads programme," Mr O'Callaghan said.
"That's good, and again the road resurfacing can be done. That ramp on the bridge has slowed down traffic considerably," Cllr Bracken said.
"Coming the other way, that poses an issue for people crossing, there's a very busy chemists there as well. There are a lot of elderly people trying to cross there," Cllr Bracken finished.
This motion was tabled at the October sitting of Laois County Council's Borris in Ossory / Mountmellick Municipal District.
