Workshops in The Paint Store Mountmellick with Wendy Warings. Wendy recently moved to Laois and has worked as a lecturer in art and design and creative arts for over 20 years. Come and learn new crafts in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

The following are the up coming events:

Silk Painting for Beginners

Saturday 12th May 10:30am – 4:00pm

€60 

Experience the ancient technique of silk painting as you watch colours flow and merge together to give beautifully vibrant effects. You will learn how to create patterns and pictures using specialist silk paint, salt and gutta which could be framed or used to make scarves, wall hangings, cushions, etc. for your home. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as you will be guided through the techniques step by step.

Up-cycling Techniques for Beginners

Saturday 19th May - 10:30am – 4:00pm

€60 

During this workshop you will be introduced to a range of up-cycling techniques which can be used to transform items and small pieces of furniture for your home. Learn the art of decoupage, crackle glaze and how to create a shabby chic effect in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. If you like, you can bring a small item to practice your new techniques on such as a tray, bowl, pot, box, picture frame, etc.

 

Felt Making & Hand Embroidery for beginners

Saturday, 16th June 

Create your own unique felted fabric using natural wool fibres and learn how to add beautiful embellishments with hand embroidered stitches. 


Shabby Chic Furniture

Saturday, 23rd June 

Bring along your old worn item of furniture and learn about how to make it into a piece to be proud of in your home.
