There is still some time to support the Ben and Jake Connolly Monster Raffle which has a host of prizes from local sponsors up for grabs.

From a flat screen TV from Telfords to a party bus provided by John Moran, hampers and vouchers the raffle is not to be missed and will support a great cause.

The full prize list includes a 32” flat screen HDMI TV from Telfords, party bus rental from John Moran, a hamper from Breda’s Gift Shop, a hamper of fruit from Eamon Comerford, hamper from Cocoa Couture chocolate shop in Mountmellick, furniture voucher from Tony Brown, a wine hamper from Paul Dempsey, vouchers from Róisín Dempsey make up artist, Bella Hair Studio, Blush Beauty Portarlington, DHD Hair Portarlington and Scissor Hands Hair, Portarlington.

Ben and his late brother Jake, are two brothers from Mountmellick who were born with a rare syndrome that only affects boys called Allan Herndon Dudley Syndrome. Jake sadly passed away in January, 2016.

Ben is a happy, smiley little boy who loves interaction and music.

In March of this year, Trustee Mr Joe McEvoy said it may take around €30,000 to finish the house that is being purposely built for Ben and his family.

The purpose-built house will be of great benefit to Ben, his family and his carers. The space and equipment that will be in the new house is needed to help with taking care of him.

This house is being built to cater for Ben, who celebrated his 9th birthday on March 26, and the house will pass back to the Trust and be made available for another family in the community whose child or children have special needs.
