A new work by Deirdre Dunne, painted on linen, to feature in her exhibition in Mountmellick Library Gallery.
Laois born and educated painter Deirdre Dunne is set to launch a new exciting exhibition of paintings in Mountmellick.
From Killeigh, the artist attended St Mary's College in Mountmellick, going on to study in Crawford College of Art in Cork.
She spent years travelling around the world by bicycle and worked as a tour guide in several continents, sketching and taking photos along the journey.
Now settled near the Galtee Mountains, Deirdre continues to evolve as a painter of vibrant light filled oil paintings, with her new works including the technique of decoupage.

"My subject varies greatly from exotic animals, to an misty morning in a sheep field. But what attracts me is the fleeting effects of light and atmosphere. I use intense colours and contrasts to achieve a strong impact on the viewer. I aim to capture the moment in nature where the natural light casts a highlight on the subject matter," Deirdre told the Leinster Express.
Her exhibition opens in Mountmellick Gallery Library this Friday evening March 1 at 7pm, opened by Fr Frank McNamara.
Wine and cheese reception. All are welcome.
The exhibition will continue for the month of March, open during library hours.
