RIP: Gardaí confirm three people dead after road incidents in three counties on same day

Three people have died on Irish roads in separate incidents within the same day. 

That's according to Gardaí, who confirmed three separate fatal road collisions occurred in counties Limerick, Clare and Carlow yesterday (August 16). 

The first - involving a male pedal cyclist and a car - occurred shortly after 12.30pm on the N67 (Kilkee to Moyasta Road) at Baunmore in Co Clare. 

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, with no serious injuries to other people reported. 

The N67 at Baunmore is currently closed with local diversions in place, and the services of Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested. 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward. 

The second fatal road incident happened just one hour later at 1.30pm in the College Green area of Carlow Town in Co Carlow. 

A male in his 20s received fatal injuries after falling from a truck during the course of his work.

There are no road closures, with only access disruption to a number of houses in College Green.

The services of Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested and the Health and Safety Authority have also been notified.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the College Green estate between 1.15pm and 1.45pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

The final incident occurred at 11.40pm in the Bank Place area of Limerick City, Co Limerick. 

A female teenage pedestrian was taken to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries, where she has since passed away.

No other injuries to persons was reported during the course of the collision.

The road at Bank Place is currently closed with local diversions in place and Forensic Collision Investigators will conduct an examination of the scene. 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Bank Place area of Limerick City between 11pm and 11.45pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
