"We all consider it an honour to put on an Irish jersey and at a World Cup it is different again." Peter O'Mahony stated after winning the Mastercard Man of the Match award after Irelands incredible 82-08 display against Romania in their opening game of the tournament.

The flanker scored two tries during the game were Ireland ran across the try line 12 times. It was evident from their second-half performance that the side were comfortable and got into great running form in the blazing heat in Bordeuax,

O'Mahony continued by saying "Credit to Romania, you saw the way they rucked up and they gave us a serious wake-up call early on in the game. Every team is here to play their absolute best and Romania were definitely that today. We put some phases together that we were happy with but we will certainly go back and have a look at the stuff we left out there, but it was a pleasure coming out here today. Over 80 points in our first one we will take that."

The second game in Ireland's pool takes place tomorrow when Scotland face off against current World Champions, South Africa, while Ireland will take a well deserved break until this day next week when they face Tonga.
