Gardaí have arrested a man in his fifties in connection with the seizure of a large sum of cannabis and other illegal items.
Approximately €100,000 of suspected drugs, a number of suspected replica firearms, a decommissioned firearm and drug paraphernalia were seized in Dublin 7 yesterday (Friday September 22) as part of Operation Tara.
Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit at Finglas Garda Station, along with regular uniform units and the Garda Dog Unit, conducted a search of a residence during the afternoon.
All of the suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis and the firearms will undergo analysis at the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau.
The arrested man is currently detained at a Garda Station in North Dublin under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
