‘It started with a numbness’ — Midlands dad found to have brain tumour after two symptoms
The wife of a Polish man living in the Midlands has started a fundraiser for potentially life-saving treatment for her husband after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
35-year-old Grzegorz was diagnosed after noticing a couple of symptoms and collapsing last August. The married father of two works as a traffic engineer and is a popular teammate of the Dublin Buccaneers hockey team.
After landing his dream job two years ago, life was going well for Grzegors and his family before disaster struck in August of 2023.
He collapsed and was later diagnosed with a brain tumour which doctors have said cannot be removed.
"Everything started of the little numbness one the left side of his face and a bit of losing the balance," his wife Karolina explained.
"We have been circulating in between hospitals for nearly four months. Nobody could tell as what is going on with my husband and his condition was deteriorating day by day and when they finally told us, that was like a death sentence."
The couple share two kids, Aaron and Nella, and Grzegorz is also a keen cyclist. The fit 35-year-old has been diagnosed with a glioma brain tumour which is at stage 4.
"We need your help because Grzegorz is very sick and the fact that the tumour can not be removed reduced options to help him," Karolina explained.
He has already had 30 sessions of radiations and was due to start chemotherapy before Christmas.
"We would like to organise for him alternative therapy in UK, immunization which can have great impact for his body. He needs also intense physio to improve the comfort of his life," Karolina added.
"If you could support as with our fight for better future for Grzegorz and our family I would appreciate every donation, and at this point, I would like to thank all of you for your help and support.
I promise if I wouldn't be able to use the money from the fundraising, they will be given to another sick person in urgent need," she concluded.
The fundraiser has already raised €15,000 with Grzegorz hockey club Dublin Buccaneers one of the first to donate.
