25kgs of Cannabis herb, worth an estimated €500,000 was seized
A woman who was arrested following a significant drugs seizure earlier this week has been charged and is due to appear before the courts, gardai have confirmed.
As part of Operation Tara and the investigation into the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the North Co. Kildare area, gardaí seized approximately €500,000 worth of cannabis during a search operation on Thursday.
The search of a residential premises in the Clane area was carried out by members from the Kildare North drug unit with the assistance of uniformed members from Naas and Clane.
During the course of this search cannabis herb amounting to 25Kgs with an estimated street value of €500,000 was seized.
The drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for further analysis.
A woman aged in her late 30’s was arrested at the scene and was detained under Section 2 Drug Trafficking Act 1996 at a garda station in the Kildare region.
In an update, issued this Saturday morning, a garda spokesperson confirmed the woman has now been charged and will appear before a special court sitting in Naas this Saturday afternoon.
