Revenue has seized counterfeit goods valued at almost €400,000 along with 7kgs of cannabis valued at over €140,000 thanks to the help of sniffer dog, Grace.
Over the course of last week, week commencing May 20, and with the assistance of detector dog Grace, Revenue officers examining parcels at a premises in Dublin seized over 7 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of almost €142,000 during the course of numerous operations.
Various quantities of other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €3,300, were also seized.
The illicit drugs were discovered, as a result of risk profiling, in parcels originating from the UK, Spain, the USA, Canada, Thailand and India and were intended for addresses nationwide.
A quantity of retail goods, with an estimated value of approximately €388,000, was also seized due to infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.
A spokesperson confirmed that investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
The various quantities of other illicit drugs (worth €3,300 in total) seized consisted of: 0.5g of butane honey oil, 20mls of cannabis oil, 661.7g of THC edibles and 1,806 Alprazolam, Benzodiazepine, Diazepam, Tapentadol and Zopiclone tablets.
The retail goods (worth approximately €388,000) seized consisted of: 1 pair x Apple Airpods, 1x Apple Battery Pack, 2,436 x items of Adidas, Balenciaga, Birkenstock, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Chloe, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Dsquared, Emporio Armani, Gucci, Hermes, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Moncler, Mulberry, New Balance, Nike, The North Face, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Stone Island, Tommy Hilfiger, Ugg, Under Armour, Valentino, Versace and Yves Saint Laurent.
