The suspected was arrested contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act
Gardaí investigating the discovery of a man's body at an apartment in Clones, County Monaghan earlier this month have made an arrest.
The body of Ukrainian national Mykola Dernovyi, who was aged in his mid-40s, was discovered at a property at the Diamond in the centre of the border town at around 10pm on June 1.
A major garda investigation was launched following the discovery of his body and technical examinations were carried out at the scene.
While gardai have not released the results of a post mortem examination for operational reasons, they have confirmed that a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
"The male, aged in his 40s, was arrested contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997 and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in Co. Monaghan," said a spokesperson in a brief statement, issued this Wednesday night.
An Garda Síochána say their investigations into what happened are ongoing.
They have renewed their appeal to any persons with any information on this incident to contact investigating gardaí at Clones garda station 047 51025, the garda confidential phone number 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
