A man aged in his 50s has died following an assault in Dublin.
Another man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
After 12.30am on Thursday, gardai were alerted to a man with serious injuries at Hampton Wood Way on St Margaret’s Road in Finglas.
The injured man, aged in his 50s, was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The state pathologist was notified and a post-mortem examination was scheduled for Thursday at Dublin City Mortuary.
A man in his 30s was arrested as part of the investigation and he is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The scene was preserved for technical examination and the investigation is ongoing.
