The Lord Mayor of Dublin, James Geoghegan, signing both books

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, James Geoghegan, will open two Books of Condolence at the Mansion House from Wednesday, June 26 to Friday, June 28 (11am to 4pm on both days) for the citizens of Dublin to extend their sympathies to the families of Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh and Tommie Gorman.

Of Mr Ó Muircheartaigh, the Lord Mayor said, “Listening in the back of the car to Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh on the radio when I was a child was often more exciting than the game which was taking place on the field. He was a rare national treasure, and on behalf of the people of Dublin I extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late great Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh.”

The Book of Condolence for Mícheál will also be available to sign online from this Wednesday here.

Of Mr Gorman, the Lord Mayor said, “We all relied on Tommie Gorman to keep us informed during those fateful days of the Good Friday Agreement. He served as an essential and reassuring voice to some of the most important historical moments in the recent history of our island. On behalf of the people of Dublin I extend my sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Tommie Gorman.”

The Book of Condolence for Tommy will also be available to sign online here from this Wednesday morning.
