Standstill on M7 is commuter hell as hurling fans leave others in major tailbacks

M7 toll

Significant delays are being reported on the M7 as fans make their way to Croke Park for the Limerick v Cork hurling clash.

The traffic backlog stretched for reportedly 5km along the M7 motorway from the Portlaoise toll as early as 9am this Sunday morning.

Many frustrated supporters took to social media to relay the information as a warning to prospective commuters.

One person wrote: "Surely Transport For Ireland should just order them to open the barriers if they can’t cope with the volume of traffic?"

While another reiterated: "Just open the tolls!"

Cork will be looking to end Limerick’s bid for five successive All-Ireland titles at 4pm.
