Ugly scenes broke out at the end of the Louth Derby on Friday night as Dundalk and Drogheda United fans clashed at Oriel Park.
After the final whistle sounded on a 4-2 victory for Dundalk over their local rivals, a large group of fans entered the pitch and became engaged in a brawl.
Drogheda United issued a statement condemning the post match events. "All involved in Drogheda United sincerely apologises, especially to the families, but to all who witnessed the post-match altercations in Dundalk last night.
"The events that occurred after the match were unacceptable, and as a club we condemn this unsavoury and violent behaviour.
"We are working closely with the security staff, photographers and tv crews to identify the individuals involved and will determine appropriate sanctions once we have reviewed all the footage and have the appropriate facts," Drogheda United said.
