Investigation launched into Ticketmaster sale of Oasis tickets for Croke Park concerts

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has launched an investigation into Ticketmaster Ireland and its handling of the sale of Oasis tickets last weekend

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has launched an investigation into Ticketmaster Ireland and its handling of the sale of Oasis tickets last weekend.

Confirming the development this Friday evening, the CCPC says it has received over 100 complaints from consumers.

Tickets for the Oasis concerts, planned for two nights in August 2025, went on sale on Saturday, August 31 and many Irish fans were left disappointed after being unable to get one of the 160,000 tickets that went on on sale.

Tickets were advertised as being priced from €86.50 and up (subject to service charge). However, many who waited for hours in online queues were left in disbelief when they saw that prices had hugely inflated by the time their turn in the queue came around.

There were reports that the price for standing tickets had more than doubled from around €176 on pre-sale to over €400.

Chair of the CCPC, Brian McHugh, said: "The CCPC has reviewed more than 100 contacts from consumers who are very disappointed and frustrated about their experience of buying tickets for Oasis concerts. While companies in Ireland are allowed to respond to market demand, there are legitimate concerns over how consumers were treated and we have decided that an in-depth investigation is necessary. If we find that consumer protection laws were broken we will take action.

"The CCPC is grateful to consumers who have taken the time to call or email our helpline to share their experiences with us as their stories have helped us develop a picture of last weekend’s events."

The CCPC has welcomed any written comments or supporting materials from consumers regarding their experience of buying, or attempting to buy, Oasis tickets last weekend. Those who wish to do so can send this to the investigation team at

The CCPC said it cannot provide any further comment at this time as a formal investigation has been opened.
