A murder investigation has been launched into the death of a 31-year-old woman in Co Cork following the results of a post-mortem examination.
Gardai said they are not releasing the results of the post-mortem examination on Paula Canty for “operational purposes”.
Ms Canty was found dead at a home in Bridewell Lane, Mallow on Friday.
Gardai said that following the preliminary results of the examination, carried out by the assistant state pathologist, they have launched a murder inquiry.
An examination of the scene by the Garda Technical Bureau is continuing.
A senior investigating officer is leading the investigation from the incident room at Mallow Garda Station while a family liaison officer continues to provide support.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them and are seeking any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings, from the vicinity of Bridewell Lane between 9pm on Thursday and 10am on Friday.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
