The woman who was found dead in a residence in Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan on Saturday night, January 11, has been named locally as Annie Heyneman.
A murder investigation into the death of the 55-year-old is currently underway. Her husband Henk, aged in his sixties was seriously injured and remains in hospital.
It is understood an attempt was made to set fire to the house but fireman arrived at scene in time to put out the blaze before more damage could be done.

A man in his thirties was arrested in a separate location and detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at a Garda Station in the Cavan area.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and those with information to come forward which might shed more light on the incident.
Anyone who travelled in the area of Kilnavert, Ballyconnell, County Cavan on Saturday night between 8.30pm and 9.30pm is asked to provide Gardaí with any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings.
