MAJOR ALERT: Chemical found in Irish kids' shoes can cause serious health issues

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has issued a serious produced recall for children's shoes sold to Irish parents that contain dangerous chemicals. 

A statement said a safety issue has been identified with rain boots for kids and sandals sold on the TEMU platform.

The risk reported to CCPC is "chemical and environmental due to the presence of banned/restricted chemicals; Phthalates, Chlorinated Paraffins, which can harm children’s health by potentially damaging their reproductive system."

The GoodsID for the rain boots is 601099611807824.

There are approximately 14 affected boot products in the Republic of Ireland and parents are being warned they should "stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children."

"Temu has contacted affected consumers regarding this recall on behalf of the seller, and reimbursements have been issued to those impacted," the CCPC added.

"If you have not received a refund or have further questions or concerns about this product, please contact Temu’s Dedicated Customer Service team by following the link.

The same safety issue has been identified with Kids Cartoon Themed Sandals sold on the TEMU platform. The brand is Jiageya. The batch number is JGY240128168. Similarly, parents should stop using them and follow this link if they have not already been contacted by TEMU about a refund.
