Following the death of two men aged in their 20s in a crash in Carlow, an online fundraiser has been set up to support the families.

Bhargav Chitturi and Suresh Cherukuri were pronounced dead at the scene when their vehicle had crashed into a tree on the N80 in Leagh, Rathoe at around 1:15am on Friday January 31st.

€34,000 has been raised through the fundraiser so far, according to a report by RTE.

According to RTE, the fundraiser was set up to help the families cover funeral costs.

"Unfortunately two more young men have lost their lives...and what makes it even worse is this is literally a year to the day when three young people- two men and a young lady- lost their lives at the exact same spot," Independent Cllr Will Paton said.

Tributes have poured in for the two young men on social media.
