Irish holidaymakers have been hit with an urgent travel warning as hundreds of flights have been cancelled due to widespread strikes.
Airports in Greece in Italy are currently undergoing major delays and disruption as easyJet cabin crew in Italy staged a strike on Wednesday. The strike was organised by the Italian Federation of Transport Workers, along with other national unions.
"We would like to reassure customers that we are doing all possible to minimise any disruption as a result of the strike action and should any flights be impacted we will be contacting customers directly with their options to help rearrange their plans", said a spokesperson from easyJet.
Meanwhile in Greece, air traffic controllers are participating in a 24-hour nationwide public sector strike, causing flight cancellations across the entire country. Unions are seeking salary increases along with the return of collective bargaining rights, which had been scrapped a part of the International bailouts during the country's financial crises.

Ryanair has also commented on the current situation warning passengers of delays across the two countries.
This morning it was reported that 176 flights had been cancelled either arriving or departing at Athens with a further 43 flights grounded in Thessaloniki.
These cancellations could heavily impact any Irish travellers, especially those waiting to board connecting flights within the 2 countries.
Irish travellers are advised to check their flight status with their airline directly and avoid going to airports until their flights are confirmed to be going.
