A man in his 20s has been arrested and charged after gardaí seized a large machete and a sharp piece of scissors during a late-night patrol on Thursday.
Gardai were on duty along the Shelbourne Road in Dublin at around 10pm on Thursday night when they spotted the man, who was known to them, "acting suspiciously".
"When they interacted with him, it became clear that he was concealing something and he was advised that he would be searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977," gardaí said in a post on social media.
Upon searching the man, gardaí made a shocking discovery.
"Both this machete and sharp piece of scissors were found in his possession, and he was arrested."
Gardaí confirmed the man has since been charged and court proceedings have commenced.
The male (20s) has since been charged and is now before the courts for this offence."
