It was a star-studded Late Late Show, with Miriam Margolyes and Damian Lewis leading the line-up.

Host Patrick Kielty was also joined by Andrew Porter, Emma Doran, Rick Astley and Celine Byrne, but it was Miriam who stole the show, kicking things off with a hilarious and brutally honest interview that had viewers branding her "an international treasure."

Miriam was there to promote her new book 'The Little Book of Miriam' which she playfully warned Kielty should "should be kept in the toilet and away from the eyes of children due to the adult material in it."

She also joked with the audience that they should buy it as it is relatively cheap: "It's only like €17 or something"

In her interview, Miriam didn’t hold back, mixing colourful language with a surprisingly candid chat about farting etiquette and the time a Hollywood A-listers farted in her face!

Recalling the incident on set with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Margolyes reflected on working with A-listers over the course of her remarkable decade-spanning career, revealing that she does not care about the 'star status' most viewers would attribute to her.

She explained: "The stars are not important, I like real people, they make me tick when they share with me something that's difficult for them to say. Don't you think it's lovely when people open up and tell you things that they don't really want to tell you?"

Elsewhere in the interview, Miriam spoke about the situation in Gaza and addressed being described as “unapologetically woke.”

She told Patrick she’s proud of who she is, saying she’s “a left-wing lesbian” and sees no reason to apologise for it.

Fans of the show were delighted at her authenticity in her interview with one user saying on social media "@MMargolyes such a treasure! One of a kind!"

"Miriam Margoyles is indeed an international treasure #latelate" a second user added.

Another user praised both Miriam's interview and her eye-catching outfit saying: "the delightful #miriammargolyes wearing the tricolour tonight."

Miriam was then joined by comedian Emma Doran for a hilarious interview, before actor Damien Lewis joined the duo.

After that Patrick was joined by Ireland and Leinster rugby star Andrew Porter will who discussed his new book Heart on My Sleeve.

He will also spoke on losing his mother at a young age, his struggle with mental health following her death and why he has decided to share his deeply personal story.

The show was rounded out by 80's pop legend Rick Astley who performed one of his biggest hits 'Cry for Help' before sitting down to chat with Kielty about his upcoming show, viral song 'Never Gonna Give You Up' surpassing one billion Spotify streams this year and his upcoming 60th birthday.
