Members of Portlaoise Municipal District will send a letter of congratulations to the  Director of the National Ploughing Association.

The move was suggested at the latest district meeting by Fine Gael Councillor Willie Aird who complimented the NPA.

“Can I just propose that we send a letter to Anna May McHugh, National Director of the Ploughing Association,” Cllr Aird said.

“I just saw photographs of the plaque that they erected out in Ratheniska and that’s in our Municipal District area,” he said.

“I just want to say well done,” said Cllr Aird.

“I do think they need to be thanked and recognised for the fact that the World Championship was in that area. When we are all long gone that plaque and stone will remain there,” added Cllr Aird.

The councillors agreed to send their congratulations to Anna May McHugh.
