The big Laois representation at the Nataional Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska has delighted Sean Fleming TD.
The Laois Offaly TD and Minister of State said he visited many of the Laois businesses and groups’ stands on display at the National Ploughing Championships.
"I was glad to meet with a group from Scoil Chríost Rí, Portlaoise, who were presenting their project – ‘Optimising sustainable animal nutrition for better angus beef’ – at the Irish Angus Producers Group stand. They also had their angus cows on display, which the group is rearing through a local farmer, as part of their project. MORE BELOW PICTURE.
Minister Fleming also commented on the ICA whom he met with the Tánaiste Micheál Martin.
"Laois Irish Countrywomen’s Association (ICA) organised a stand where many of the Laois ICA guilds demonstrated some of the activities they do and work that they carry out in their communities. It was a great opportunity to show exactly what Laois ICA is all about – fun, friendship and community spirit.
"It was great to see many of the Laois stands at the Ploughing. There were family businesses, schools and other groups showcasing the best of what Laois has to offer," said the Fianna Fáil TD.
The TD added taht the National Ploughing Championships hosted large crowds from all across the country in Laois and despite the bad weather on the first day of the event, everyone present enjoyed themselves.
