Party supporters not to 'sit in silence'

Rally for support

Laois Fine Gael members were urged not to sit in silence when hearing criticism of their party as the election campaign heats up.

“It's too easy to sit back and hear people criticise,” said county chairman John Finlay.

He opened the launch by recalling Home Rule MP John Redmond.

“This week 100 years ago John Redmond was fighting that conscription would not be imposed on Irish people, he thought it an insult to believe Irish people needed conscription to go into a fight. We are now in a fight, let the games begin,” he said.

“We have two outstanding candidates to fight but getting elected requires support of the Fine Gael family and friends,” Mr Finlay said.

Director of elections is Helen Delaney.
