Laois Offaly Families for Autism (LOFFA) will hold a protest outside the HSE disability services offices on Arden Road Tullamore this Thursday, May 19.
The protest will take place at 10am followed by a press conference in the Tullamore Court Hotel at 12 noon.
Last year LOFFA held a protest which resulted in 20 further therapy posts being approved for Laois and Offaly.
However, LOFFA says that to date these posts haven't been all filled and currently Laois psychology services for school age children are suspended.
“We know many of our members have experienced terrible difficulties and poor treatment when attempting to access support for our children,” said the organisation.
“Last year LOFFA released a report on 'The Current State of Autism Services in Laois/Offaly'. A copy of this report is available to download atwww.loffa.ie.
“The previous committee worked very hard on highlighting the gaps in services and we want to carry on that work.
“We hope to issue a review report and in this proposed review report we want the focus to be LOFFA families experience on the ground.
“We are asking people to please do the following:
Consider emailing your story of your experience, your child and the impact lack of appropriate services have had on your family.
“Stories will be anonymous and referred to as case studies.
“You can email your story to firstname.lastname@example.org or to Mary Dunne at email@example.com.
