Ossory Show 2016 launched

The 2016 expanded edition of the Ossory Show was launched in Rathdowney last week by Laois Rose, Kate Hyland.

At the launch sponsors were thanked for their ongoing support.

This year marks a new departure for the Ossory Show as it will be held over two days on Saturday and Sunday, July 16-17.

It kicks off on Saturday, July 16 from 5pm with a Truck Show, BBQ and bar and music.

The Truck Show continues into Sunday and also features vintage cars and a tractor show, as well as the agriculture show.

The show includes a number of livestock classes, including cattle, sheep, horses, pigs and poultry, as well as arts and crafts classes, baking, sewing, local home produce, and trade stands,

Entertainment includes a donkey derby, tug-of-war, best dressed competitions and most glamorous granny.

There are over 200 classes to exhibit in. and much more.

Donations are being made on the day to the Cuisle Centre and local Meals on Wheels.

Senator David Norris will be the guest on the day.

Also among the attractions will be a steam engine once owned by the Delaney family of Coolkerry, cutting the corn on show day.

All roads lead to the showgrounds at Coolfin Cross for a fun day out for all the family.
