Portlaoise toyshop owner Richie Graham who died recently, was remembered at the September meeting of Laois County Council.

Cllr Willie Aird proposed a vote of sympathy.

“He was on the town commission with me, one of those who set up the football association at St Fintan’s hospital, a keen golfer and a tremendous asset to Portlaoise town council. A very trustworthy man, and deeply involved in Laois football,” he said.

Cllr Catherine Fitzgerald seconded the sympathies to Mr Graham’s son and daughter and their families.

“He worked with my father, he was a very loyal member of staff in the HSE, and a very loyal Portlaoise man in the GAA and in all walks of life,” she said.

“He was also a successful businessman, he ran a superb business in Lyster Square,” added Cllr Mary Sweeney.
