Key routes hit as Laois roads close due to flooding

A number of roads have had to be closed due to flooding in Laois on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 22. 

Laois County Council has conifrmed that the following roads are closed:

N80 through Mountmellick from the MDA to Glanbia is closed on the Portlaoise side of town.

Clonrooske link road (Fairgreeen) from Mountmellick road to Mountrath road in Portlaoise is closed too. Fire service dealing with this.

Ballyfin to Mountmellick Road closed due to flooding.

Mountmellick to Rosenalis Road closed due to flooding.

Extreme caution to be taken in the Mountmellick area due to flooding.

Clonaslee area, caution is advised. Alternative routes to be taken if possible.

The N80 Stradbally/Portlaoise Road was impassable.

In Mountmellick, Manor Lane is totally impassable.

N80 at Irishtown Closed – MDA – Glanbia.

Wolfe Tone Street is totally impassable.

Derrycloney Mountmellick closed.

Laois Fire Service called to 16 flooding incidents in one morning.
