Flooding mountmellick laois

Laois County Council is still providing accomodation for people forced out of their Mountmellick homes.

The council confirmed to the Leinster Express that it is providing accommodation over this weekend to seven families affected by the flooding.

It said other families may have made arrangements to stay with family and friends.

Several families were put up in a Portlaoise hotel on the night of the disaster.

Many householders have spent the days since trying to clean up an dry out their homes with the help of the council and other agencies.
