Despite the mild conditions this morning, Met Éireann have warned that weather conditions are set to take a sharp turn on Thursday which will see freezing temperatures, as well as the risk of hail and thunder.
Thursday is set to be a cold, windy day, with widespread wintry showers.
Thursday night is forecast to be bitterly cold and windy with showers of hail, sleet and snow. There will be frost and icy stretches also, with lows of minus 2 degrees.
Friday is also expected to be bitterly cold, but with some sunshine. The rest of the week will bring a mixture of wintry conditions and sunny spells.
Met Eireann has already issued an extended weather warning ahead of Storm Caroline on Thursday.
A wind warning has been issued for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.
