Laois family devastated as pet dog 'suffered horrendous death' wired and nailed to a tree

The condition the family dog was found in in Mountrath.

A Laois family is offering a reward to anyone with information about the 'horrendous' death their family pet suffered.

The Kingston family in Mountrath are devastated after finding their dog, who they had for 12 years, 'wired and nailed up to a tree' with broken legs and other injuries.

John Kingston took to Facebook to share the message of the reward being offered. He explained that the dog was always kept inside a walled yard however on this occasion he got out for a few minutes and strayed off.

John said that 'evil people' must have come across the dog and done this to him, he said he cannot understand why.

John has opened his Facebook page for anyone with any information to come forward and he is offering a reward. He said that all messages will be treated with the utmost confidence.

The family is desperately trying to prevent this horrific cruelty from happening to any other family in the area.

The graphic images below were shared by John Kingston and show some of the damage that was caused to the dog.

John's plea for information on Facebook has received a massive response with over 1,000 people from all over the country interacting and sharing their sympathies with the family.
