List of Laois events rescheduled over Beast from the East weather warnings

A number of events are being rescheduled due to the possibility of a Status Red weather warning in Ireland later this week.

Met Eireann issued a Status Orange snow-ice weather warning which is valid from 3pm on Tuesday, February 27 until 11am on Wednesday, February 28 in Laois, Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Louth, Wicklow and Meath.

Below is a list of events and businesses that have announced changes to their plans over the coming days. The Leinster Express will continue to update this list as we get more. 

Portlaoise Lions Club annual charity book sale in the Laois Shopping Centre on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd of March 2018, from 10am to 5pm each day has been defered until a later date. No new date has been announced. 

Two Laois school basketball teams who were scheduled to play All Ireland League finals have had their games pushed forward due to snow. Laois schools' Basketball All Ireland League finals postponed due to weather warnings.

Laois Public Participation Network has cancelled its Funding and Resources event which was due to take place on Tuesday evening at the Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise.

A music event in Kavanagh's Pub, Portlaoise has been rescheduled. Flash Harry - The Music of Queen was due to go ahead on Friday night, March 2 but will now take place on Friday, April 13 instead. See more here. The Jason Byrne show on Friday night at the Midlands Park Hotel is going ahead.

Portarlington Leisure Centre has cancelled all scheduled swimming lessons and fitness classes for this coming Thursday (March 1st) and the early morning on Friday (March 2nd) "to avoid placing customers and staff in unnecessary travel danger." See more here.

Bingo at St. Mary’s Hall Portlaoise cancelled Thursday and Friday. Parish Lotto will take place in Parish Centre tomorrow (Thursday) at 8.30pm.  For all Lotto Promotors please return tickets to Parish Centre, today or tomorrow.

Due to weather conditions the First Friday Masses in the Heath and Ratheniska are cancelled this Friday evening. Masses as per usual schedule in Parish Church.

Portlaoise Leisure Centre swimming lessons not going ahead on Thursday or Friday this week but will open from 9:30am to 5:00pm on both days. Fitness classes normally timetabled within those times will go ahead however a notice from the Leisure Centre said that a Red weather warning will close the facility. Call 057 86 81200.

Due to weather forecast, Thursday night's The Man in Black , Johnny Cash Tribute in the Dunamaise Arts Centre is postponed to next Tuesday 6 March at 8pm. All ticket holders will be called and offered their choice of transfer to that date, account credit or full refund as preferred. Please bear with us til we reach you, no deadline!

Due to the Red Warning Dunamaise Arts Centre will remain closed today Thursday 1st and tomorrow Friday 2nd March.
