Special Needs Assistant facing drugs charges after Laois/Offaly Garda sting

Operation Menlo targeted drug-dealing

A primary school worker is facing charges relating to eight drugs offences after being arrested as part of a Laois/Offaly Garda crackdown on the sale and supply of controlled substances, according to a Garda source.

The Leinster Express understands that the woman was an SNA in a primary school in Offaly when she was arrested during Operation Menlo, which was undertaken to tackle drug dealing in Laois and Offaly. It is understood she has since left her employment.

The woman is facing charges for eight drugs offences and will appear before Tullamore District Court on April 11 along with 13 others arrested during the operation.

Last month, gardaí announced that the 14 individuals, 3 women and 11 men, were arrested and charged following the Garda sting. The arrests at the time were made by gardaí in Tullamore and Birr.
