A very exciting weekend lineup of music has been announced for two huge events coming up in Portarlington catering for all ages.
Teenage KICKS is set to make a welcome return to Portarlington after a successful two years.
Portarlington RFC are getting set to host a memorable weekend of music and entertainment in May. Teenage KICKS is an event for teenagers specifically under 18 years old and it promises to be a day of fun and madness.
The day will kick odd at 3:30pm, giving loads of time to get out of the school uniform and get glammed up!
The day begins with the ‘B S#arp All Stars’, showcasing musicians from our local music school. The days lineup then includes bands like ‘Tobins Merry Men’ and ‘Stray Bullets’ with various DJs interspersed such as DJ Dan Ram, DJ Mick Gill and DJ, and MC for the day, Jordyn Lopez.
Finishing the day are the rip roaring ‘Cardinal Sins’ followed by the night ending headline act ‘The City and Us’, a brand new Irish alternative band based in Dublin. This exciting new four piece have been exciting audiences with unique blend of acoustic tracks with a hint of electro. The new group is waves in Ireland and beyond with most of their future touring coming up in UK, Germany, USA and all over Asia.
Entertainment will also include various amusements from McCormack’s carnival with food and soft drinks available on site. This event is strictly nonalcoholic and fully supervised by PSA licensed security. It takes place on Friday, May 18.
The fun continues to Saturday May, 20 with the main over 18's KICK 2018 event. Having been a huge success over the last two years when Smash Hits played, this year will see a change with a day of dance and rock excellence.
Kicking off at 6:00pm with’ My Tribe, Your Tribe’ , who’s latest music is, for the most part, an upbeat marriage of pitch-shifted Indie-Psychedelic guitars and retro-synths slotting in in somewhere between the immediacy of classic 80's synth pop bands and the production qualities of artists such as LCD sound system and Tame impala.
A very exciting act - ‘Knights of Leon’ - will also play on the night. This band brings the bombastic stadium rock anthems of Kings of Leon to life, guaranteed to get you singing and dancing.
The night, and weekend, is topped off with a tribute to the dance sensation band Daft Funk, playing the hits of their favorite band Daft Punk. Dance the night away to worldwide hits such as “One more time”, “Around the world”, “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” and many, many more!
The music entertainment is added to by McCormack’s carnival with plenty of choice of food and drink available.
Tickets for both days are €15, with some early bird €10 tickets still available from Centra on Main Street in Portarlington, and from Brew Café, Dublin Rd, Portlaoise.
