Blue skies over the Rock of Dunamaise in Laois
Laois and the midlands will continue to be bathed in warm sunshine this week, according to the latest Met Éireann forecast.
Today Wednesday May 23 will remain dry and sunny, with highs of 21 degrees.
It will be cooler though along the coast due to onshore breezes with temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees at best.
Tonight will be dry tonight with clear skies and so temperatures will drop to 6 to 8 degrees, but in little or no wind.
Hay fever sufferers can relax because the Grass Pollen count is low, according to the national forecaster. However get the sun cream on because the solar UV index is high in sunshine, otherwise moderate.
Tomorrow Thursday is much the same balmy weather for the midlands with highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees in light northerly winds.
"After a sunny start, cloud will build in the afternoon and a few isolated heavy showers will develop but only in the south of Leinster. Most places will continue dry though with further spells of sunshine."
The general outlook nationally is that there is "close and humid weather in store".
"Some warm sunshine each day, but cloudy, misty periods in some places too, with some sea mist and sea fog locally. A good deal of dry weather, but some thundery rain or showers will develop at times, giving some downpours in places, with southern and eastern areas most at risk.
"Thursday night will have some showers for a time, but these dying out later in the night. Lowest temperatures 9 to 12 C. Moderate northerly breezes will be fresh in some coastal areas.
"Friday will be breezy with a mix of sunny spells and cloudy periods. The best of the sunshine will be in the western half of the country. Clouds will tend to build in more eastern areas and some rain or showers are likely to develop in coastal areas there in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures in the mid teens along eastern coasts, but 19 to 22 C., elsewhere, best in sunshine. Moderate northerly breezes will be fresh and gusty in some coastal areas. Some showers in eastern coastal counties overnight, but dry elsewhere.
The weekend is looking good for Laois too, so grab a picnic and suncream and head to your favourite place.
"Saturday and Sunday will be close, humid days, with a mix of warm sunshine and some cloudy periods. Temperatures will be in the low twenties at least, in many places, locally higher. But in some coastal areas, onshore breezes and or patches of sea fog will tend to keep values in the teens. The sunshine will become hazy in nature at times and some showers will develop, some thundery, with southern and eastern areas most at risk of these.
Next week will remain very warm and dry in the midlands.
"Warm and close on Monday, with temperatures in the low to mid twenties generally. Sunny for most, but some showers are likely in the afternoon or evening in southern areas. The trend is for mainly dry, mild or warm weather up to mid week," Met Éireann predicts.
