UPDATE: Traffic heavy as road reopened on Laois/Kilkenny border after crash

Emergency services are on the scene

Tipperary roads are closed following flooding

Flooding has caused roads to close.

Abbeyleix was hit by heavy traffic around lunchtime on Friday after a crash on the Laois/Kilkenny border.

Part of the road at the M8 northbound Junction 4 Urlingford was closed for a time on Friday morning following the crash but reopened ahead of lunchtime.

Emergency services attended the scene of a crash which happened between 10am and 11am on Friday on the M8 northbound between Junction 4 Urlingford and Junction 3 Rathdowney in the right lane.

It's still very slow into Abbeyleix in Laois on the N77 from the Kilkenny side with a queue of almost 3km. This was part of the diversion route for the earlier closure of the M8. The M8 has been reopened.

It is not known if any injuries have been reported yet.
