The 2018 Laois Rose Grainne Hogan is getting a great reaction on Twitter after she milked a dummy cow on the Rose of Tralee stage last night.
The young dairy farmer from Camross is a favourite for many now, along with Carlow Rose, the first Rose mammy, and the Waterford Rose.
Here are some of the reactions.
The mammy rose with heroin addicts for parents #CarlowRose and the gal saying “School wasn’t for me, I’m all about the animals” #LaoisRose the festival is finally being more inclusive for all women and honestly I am here for it!!! The Laois rose is right though: it's not all about how many points you get and college. If you do what you enjoy and you have enough money to pay your bills as long as you're happy its the main thing. #RoseofTralee— Pål (@pickupapumpkin) August 20, 2018
I was the only female selling calves at the mart today so great to see fellow young female farmers taking centre stage and representing us country girls!! We'll done to the Laois rose #RoseOfTralee #laoisrose https://t.co/uJDdo8pFVV— Patricia Lynch (@lynchpatricia92) August 20, 2018
This one is from Grainne's chosen charity, Embrace FARM who support families bereaved by farming accidents.

I must admit the #LaoisRose is my new hero!! Milking a cow on the #RoseofTralee! Just goes to show, you can take the girl off the farm but you can’t take the farm out of the girl pic.twitter.com/Y2UxYNQlQv— AMY SARAH (@akelly10_amy) August 20, 2018
The 2016 Rose of Tralee Maggie McEldowney had lovely things to say about our Grainne!
#laoisrose her love and pride shown between her and her family, the shot of her granny and grandad beaming made me tear up. Proud to be a part of a festival w an absolute lady like her. #roseoftralee— Maggie McEldowney (@2016RoseMaggie) August 20, 2018
PS Milking a fake cow on TV is no easy feat either...
Grainne is a goddess for this tweeter...
I would love a Rose of Tralee but with women over 65— Gill & Tonic (@DeliciouslyGill) August 20, 2018
This tweet was brought to you by me tearing up at the sight of the Laois Roses Granny wearing roses on her dress #RoseofTrale
Grainne's statement blue gown got plenty of comments too...
The Laois rose has the best dress of the night by a country mile. #roseoftralee I love a good bold shoulder.— Eva C Scanlan (@ThatEvaOne) August 20, 2018
Laois Rose. Fierce local. Dressed like a Disney Villain though. The party piece could be amazing. #RoseofTralee— aidan donnellan (@aidandonnellan) August 20, 2018
And this one is gas...
The Laois Rose is a strong independent farmer who don’t need no man with road frontage, she’s got her own. #RoseofTralee— Brianna Parkins (@parkinsbrea) August 20, 2018
