Portlaoise train services cancelled this morning in massive strike disruption

People travelling from Laois or anywhere in the country to Dublin's Heuston station this morning have been hit with delays of up to 30 minutes getting into the capital and 80 minutes leaving.

According to Irish Rail, delays have effected people using Newbridge-Grand Canal Dock (GCD) route. A number of early morning Laois commuters reported packed trains stopping at unscheduled stops on the line en route to Dublin.

The delays have been caused by mechanical issues between Newbridge and Sallins. Passengers for GCD route have been advised to join alternative services to Hazelhatch and change for GCD there.
